Post Op Massage
This client, a 43 year old female sought my services for post-op massage treatment following lipo 360 procedure. In the before photo, fibrosis (lumpy bumpy bits on tummy) are smoothed out by specialized techniques for post-op. The results are absolutely beautiful.
Healing through Beauty
This work is a science and an art. Not everyone heals the same. This is why I feel as a therapist, it is important to have many type of therapies at your fingertips and experience. As a therapist for 12+ years now, I cannot fully describe in words how amazing it is to take part in the creation of this new esthetic. Beauty is therapy and has its own capacity to heal.
Massage lumps after liposuction
As you can see from the photo above, proper treatment can improve the bumpy appearance of the skin. Your treatment is tailored to you, and can vary from session to session depending on what I assess will benefit you most at that time of treatment.
I employ a special form of manual therapy called Modern lymphatic drainage (MLD).This type of Lymphatic work has roots in Vodder's work. However, it is far more specialized for Post-operative procedures and only taught to those who are Certified Lymphedema therapists, like myself. This type of treatment helps you to recover faster from surgery and get rid of swelling and fibrosis (scar tissue formation) sooner.
I also work with fibrosis and scars, I employ a host of advanced level techniques, not only used to sculpt the body, but for management of pain as well. Among these are Medicupping, Fascial Counterstrain, and Gua Sha.
When am I ready to begin Treatment?
A series of MLD sessions can begin 24 hours after surgery depending on type of surgery and with doctor approval. Fibrosis work is dependent upon procedure. Please schedule a zoom or call to ask any questions or to understand more about treatments.
We suggest beginning your treatments within 2 weeks after surgery as long as there are no contraindications present.
Contraindications include: Drains still in the body, torn stitches, or infection.
Please be aware: We are typically booked 1-2 months out, so please schedule your sessions in advance..many clients opt to schedule on-line. If you have questions, please reach out to us. Prior to scheduling any sessions, if you should have any questions regarding contraindications and MLD before or after surgery, please do not hesitate to speak with your doctor prior to scheduling your treatments. Your doctor will tell you when he or she feels you are ready to begin.
When to Book Your Treatments:
Ideally begin treatment within two weeks of your surgery date
Book ahead and be certain you can get your sessions!
TREAMENT PLAN GUIDELINE
As a guideline, we have found that the best results come to our clients who follow our treatment plan outline below for post op massages:
Weeks 1-3:
Two sessions per week ( phase 1)
Treatment goals:
-
Our therapies greatly hasten the healing process, they increase oxygenation, hydration and cellular metabolism thereby aiding in the health of the tissue.
-
Reduce swelling, speed healing by stimulating formation of lymph vessel around areas of fibrosis
-
Support and enhance the activity of the immune system by increasing lymph flow and stimulating antibody production. helping the body to recover as result of its balancing effect on the immune system.
-
Alleviate pain through stimulating reflex pathways thereby decreasing pain signal sent to the brain.
-
Utilizing a gentle process designed to release the tissue in spasm and the corresponding tender points to effect a therapeutic release
Weeks 4-9:
One session per week (Phase 2)
In these weeks of treatment, we still work to hasten the healing process. Focus is to reduce and prevent fibrosis from forming and sculpting manual therapy techniques to create smooth beautiful results.
