Lymphatic Drainage for Mastectomy

When mastectomy patients undergo lymphatic drainage, it can help to reduce the risk of axillary web syndrome (AWS). Axillary web syndrome (AWS) is a condition that can occur following a mastectomy. It is characterized by swelling and pain in the arm and shoulder and can range from mild to severe.

While the exact cause of AWS is not known, it is thought to be related to impaired lymphatic drainage in the affected area. Lymphatic drainage can help to reduce this swelling by promoting the drainage of fluid from the affected area. Additionally, lymphatic drainage has been shown to improve range of motion and reduce pain in mastectomy patients. As a result, this treatment can be an important part of mastectomy recovery.

Lymphatic drainage is a treatment that helps to reduce swelling by promoting the movement of lymph fluid. Several studies have shown that lymphatic drainage treatments can help to reduce the symptoms of AWS. However, the number of treatments required varies from person to person. In general, most people will need at least four treatments, although some may require more.
